I know

You are too smart.

As an initiation to death

You ordained half of life should go in sleep;

To prepare for tsunamis,

You endowed billowing emotions;

To stand disabling earthquakes,

Taught strokes and rumblings to the heart;

To ready for the Doomsday

You instilled the five elements in me

And set them to harmony.

But in my case, however,

You don’t need to create

Any calamities to remind you.

I am your true servant

A minstrel that sings your deeds.

I am as deft as you

In running the show

From behind the screen unseen.

From people playing with events

And events playing with people

I tempered many plays;

Molded people and characters and

Destined their entries and exits;

Delved deep into their hearts

To unveil their intent in dialogues;

And  unfolded the sensual secrets

Of nature’s beauty in all its hues.

I live with the conviction

That it was all your blessing.

Don’t worry how to recall me.

Dramatics has percolated

To every inch of my life.

No sooner the last dialogue has been uttered

Than the curtains of eyelids shall drop instantly.

Me, who came here under your bidding,

Can I disobey your edict to return?

It’s up to you now

To say where  the next show is. 

Or,  if all this dramatic struggle of life

Is limited to just one performance.

Won’t there be repeat performances? 

This is not just my quandary?

It grilled many minds before.

Many philosophers, noble souls,

Saints and Rishis for ages

Have deliberated and came up with question.

But before any answer could be found

The curtains continue to drop down. 

When your existence, authority

And sustenance have become questionable

Is there any wonder if the next performance

Seems, naturally, ridiculous?

But to make the drama interesting

Improving upon the previous errors,

Don’t you think  you need another show? 

That’s why I implore humbly once again

Will there be another stint?

If so… when? And, where?

.

మరో ప్రదర్శన

.

నాకు తెలుసు,

నువు మహా చతురుడవు.

మరణానికి సన్నద్ధం చెయ్యాలని

సగం జీవితమంతా నిద్ర కల్పించావు;

ఉప్పెనకు అలవాటు పడాలని 

మింటికెగసే ఉద్రేకాలనిచ్చావు;

భూకంపాన్ని ఎదుర్కోవాలని

గుండెకు పోట్లు ప్రకల్పనాల్ని నేర్పావు;

ప్రళయానికి స్వాగతం పలకాలని

నాలో పంచభూతాలను పొదిగి

లయను కుదిర్చావు.

కానీ, నా విషయంలో

ఏ ఉపద్రవాన్నీ

సృష్టించే అవకాశం నీకు ఉండదు.

నేను నీకు నిజమైన సేవకుణ్ణి.

నీ లీలల్ని కీర్తించే భావుకుణ్ణి.

నీలాగే ఎక్కడా కనిపించకుండా

నాటకాన్ని నడిపిన చతురుణ్ణి.

సన్నివేశాలాడుకునే వ్యక్తుల్ని,

వ్యక్తులాడుకునే సన్నివేశాల్ని

నాటకాలుగా కూర్చిననాణ్ణి;

వ్యక్తుల్ని, పాత్రల్నీ మల్చిన వాణ్ణి,

వాటి ప్రవేశ నిష్క్రమణల్ని నిర్దేశించిన వాణ్ణి,

వాటి గుండెల్ని సంభాషణలుగా

పలికించిన వాణ్ణి,

రసార్ద్రం చేసిన సృష్టి

అందాల్ని విప్పి చెప్పినవాణ్ణి,

ఇదంతా నీ ప్రసాదితమనే

తెలివిడితో తెలివిగా జీవిస్తున్న వాణ్ణి,

నన్ను ఎలా రప్పించాలా

అని మధన పడకు;

నా జీవన ధర్మంలో అణువణువునా

నాటక మర్మం నిండిపోయి ఉంది.

సూత్రధారి చెప్పిన  భరతవాక్యం 

వినిపించగానే రెప్పల తెర

చప్పున పడిపొతుంది.

నీవు పొమ్మంటే ఇటు వచ్చిన వాణ్ణి

అటు రమ్మంటే రాకుండా ఉంటానా?

ఇక చెప్పాల్సింది నువ్వే.

తర్వాత ప్రదర్శన  ఎక్కడ? 

ఈ జీవన్నాటక సంరంభమంతా

ఒక ప్రదర్శనకే పరిమితమా?

మళ్ళీ మళ్ళీ ఉంటాయా?

ఇది నా ఒక్కడి ప్రశ్న కాదు.

అనంత కాలంలో

కోట్లాది మనసుల్లో మెదిలిన పరశ్న.

ఎంతోమంది మెధావులు, మహితాత్ములు,

మహర్షులు శోధించి సంధించిన ప్రశ్న.

కానీ జవాబులు చెప్పకుండానే

తెరలు పడుతున్నాయి.

నీ కర్తృత్వం, ఉనికీ, పరిపోషణ

ప్రశ్నార్థకమైనప్పుడు

మరోప్రదర్శన సందేహాస్పదం

కావడం సహజమె కదా!

తప్పొప్పులు సరిదిద్దుకుని

నాటకం రక్తి కట్టించాలంటే,

మరోప్రదర్శన తప్పదు కదా!

అందుకే వినమ్రంగా మరోసారి

అడుగుతున్నాను,

మరో ప్రదర్శన ఉంటుందా?

ఉంటే… ఎప్పుడు? ఎక్కడ?
