About War… Vadrevu Chinaveerabhadrudu, Telugu, Indian
People who talk about war are very vociferous about war.
They don’t let you sit still, hurry you up, give vent to anger and grief.
They engineer new strategies, clamor at a high pitch and unfurl flags.
People who talk about war, talk nothing else about but war.
But it is a different matter with people who fight war. Every inch
Of their body always at the ready, they neither hail nor howl. Their
Alertness can smell the minutest unfamiliar sound around. You hear
No noise with them sans the silent sieving of life through death.
But the attitude of the people neck-deep in war is of a different kind.
While hiding behind bush and bower, they can still play with a feather;
And caress the falling grey leaf with their fingers. Even if they meet a
Small squirrel, they rejoice as if they have seen their own kinsman.
