Spiritless Life ….. Anveeksha, Telugu, Indian
After calling it a day,
Oblivious of the smiles
Of the inviting jasmines in her plait,
He enters home from office
Caressing his valentine… the cellphone
Serving him dutifully
Coffee, breakfast and lunch
To the hour
From morning to evening
Yet, without turning her eye off the TV,
She continues her soap operas in her dreams
Keeping the remote by her bed.
The parched bonsai in the pot
Opens her heart out to the painted pattern on the floor
Of her listless waiting for somebody
To water her to turn a new leaf and laugh as usual.
The two little sparrows that hooted and
Played like the amorous couple of the house
For the few grains on the window-sill once,
Stopped visiting the place long ago.
Wondering what happened to the couple
That was so used to conversing with the moon,
The agonized window lost its color
And was standing speechless alone.
