      That is the suicidal mindset the poet has brought out. Of course, that being a poem randomly picked, I cannot say anything about the context in which that was said or a character said in a drama.
      The best antidote for vegeance is thankfullness. Acknowledgement of our indebtedness to nature fills us with a sense of thankfulness and we never try to destroy it. Pantheism (to the extent of identifying Nature with God) scores very high in this regard.

      We teach so many things to children with fervor but not the idea of being thankful to nature for its wonderful blessings unasked. Even when we say on the few occasions, it would be more a kind of pep talk than with any real conviction.
