ఒక నల్ల కలువ…తుమ్మెదని అడిగింది

మంచుబిందు సులోచనాల్లోంచి

దాని భీకరమైన ఆకారం చూసి

ఆశ్చర్యపోతూ .

 

“నేనా అమ్మా,

నేను ప్రజా సేవకుణ్ణి

తేనె, మైనం పన్ను వసూలు చేసే బిల్లు కలెక్టర్ని.

నాకివ్వడానికి మీదగ్గర ఏమీ లేదా?”

బదులిచ్చేడు గండుతుమ్మెద.

 “And pray, who are you?”

 Said the violet blue

 To the Bee, with surprise

 At his wonderful size,

 In her eye-glass of dew.

 

 “I, madam,” quoth he,

“Am a publican Bee,

 Collecting the tax

 Of honey and wax.

 Have you nothing for me?”
