The monsoon nights let not sleep a wink.

  

With the drops of rain suddenly pecking at the ground…

The earth tingling anew all over bathed in flowers…

And the sweet trilling of a Dove in its nest with its mate

Let not sleep a wink the monsoon nights.

 

The thorn of chill prickles ever so gently

And the mischievous drizzle gets people wet slowly…

The wings remain in flight through the night

Till the twinkling glass-house gets blurred and hazy.

 

This rhythm in the back ground as lights are retired

Stirs up memories of some ancient melody

Whirling steadily within like the scents of the soil

Bidding goodbye to the month-long love-sickness

 

The delicate entwines around the tender waist

Locks on the forehead caressing the un-veiled bosom

Oh! What dreamy scripts the tips of nails encrypt, but

The blue eyes go all aglow… and the lightning to cloud nine.

   

Monsoon nights let not sleep a wink.

శ్రావణ రాత్రులు

 

శ్రావణ రాత్రులు నిద్రపోనివ్వవు

 

అకస్మాత్తుగా అవనిని ముద్దాడే వాన చినుకులూ

పుష్పాభిషేకాలతో పుడమి క్రొంగొత్త పులకింతలూ

గూటిలో ఒదిగిన గువ్వల వలపు కువకువలూ..

శ్రావణ రాత్రుల్లో కన్నులు మూతపడవు!

 

కొద్దికొద్దిగా గిల్లుతూ చలి ముల్లు

కాస్త కాస్తగా తడిపే తుంటరి జల్లూ

రేయంతా రెక్కలు తెరుచుకునే ఉంటాయిక

అద్దాల మేడ మొత్తం మసకబారిపోయేదాకా

 

దీపాలారే వేళల్లో లయగా ఈ నేపథ్య సంగీతం

ఏనాటిదో ఓ పురాస్మృతిగీతాన్ని జ్ఞప్తికి తెస్తూ

మన్ను పరిమళంలా మెల్లగా లోలో సుళ్ళు తిరుగుతూ

ఆషాఢ రాత్రుల విరహానికి వీడ్కోలవుతోంటే

 

లేలేత నడుమును చుడుతూ పెనవేసుకునే బంధాలు

అనాచ్ఛాదిత గుండెలను చుంబించే నెన్నుదిటి ముంగురులూ

కొనగోటి స్పర్శల్లో ఏ స్వప్న లిపి ఆవిష్కృతమవుతుందో గానీ..

మెరుపులేమో నీలి కన్నుల్లో..వెలుగులన్నీ దహరాకాశంలో

 

శ్రావణ రాతురులు…లోకాలను నిదుర పోనివ్వవు…!!
