You scurry off … leaving me to my music… Srinivas Vasudev
Even as I plead that
The word rots on the edge of the nib
Or, an idea hiccups in the gullet,
You care a toss and scurry off
Condemning me searching for you
In the Tiananmen Square, or
in the Bougainvilleas!
I have expected to find you
In the quietude of tomb being dug by Silence within, or
In the chirping of the cricket for its mate…
I search for you in
The Hibiscus asleep…
The sigh divorced from me… and, in the
Call of the birds tucking freedom under their plumes…
I search unabashedly
Thinking that you might have been caught
In the improbable shadows
And behind unreasonable soft wear
O You, the streak thought disengaged from me!
O You, that follow me like a shadow!
I look for your wakes
In the crown of the firefly that visits
At an unknown hour of the night…
And in the smiles of the Night Queen
Peeping through the dark nightly windows
For a freezing idea?
Or for the bloodless coup of a Cross
To come to the rescue of hunger and discrimination?
Thus lasts my yearning
Among the medley of words
For strains of my own cerebrations…

Mr. Srinivas Vasudev holds a Masters Degree in English Literature from Andhra University, Waltair, Andhra Pradesh, India. He is also a graduate in journalism from the same University. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Ministry Of Education of Brunei, Darussalam since 2003. He had earlier worked for Ministry of Education in Oman and as Senior Lecturer in English for about 2 years for the University of London in Singapore before moving to Brunei. పాళీ చివర్న అక్షరం మురిగిపోతుందన్నా
గొంతుమధ్యలో ఓ భావమేదో వెక్కిళ్ళలా
ఇరుక్కుందన్నా మాయమైతావు,
ఏ తియాన్మెన్ స్క్వేర్లోనో, బోగన్ విలియాల్లోనో
వెతుక్కోమంటూ!
నిశ్శబ్దంలోపల తవ్వుకుంటున్న సమాధిలోనో
క్రికెట్ పక్షి చెట్టుకు కొట్టుకుంటూ పిల్చిన పిలుపులోనో
నువ్వు కన్పడతావనుకున్నా!
అనిద్రలో ఉన్న మందారం
నన్ను కాదని వెళ్ళిపోయిన నిట్టూర్పు
స్వేచ్చని రెక్కల్లో దాచుకున్న పక్షుల కువకువల్లో
నీకోసం వెతుకులాట…..
