I used to snarl at the oldies

for colouring their passiveness

as mellowness and maturity

in the bubbling enthusiasm of my youth

After getting worldly wise

I call the youth uncouth

for their delusion of

mellowness and maturity

as passivity

K. Godavari Sarma

(Dr. K. Godavari Sarma was working as English lecturer in Kakinada when a car accident took away his promising career as a bi-lingual Poet. He brought out one poetry anthology “Godavari Galagalalu (1980) in Telugu and another “On the Banks of Nagavali” in English. His doctoral thesis was about Indo-Anglian Poetry. “Antarvaahini” from which the above poem was selected, was a posthumous publication. His wife Mrs. Syamala is presently working as English Lecturer in GMRIT,  Rajam.)

రెండంచుల కత్తి

.

చల్లారిపోవడాన్నే

మెల్లోనెస్ గా, మెచ్యూరిటీగా

వర్ణించి చెప్తారని

ముసలాళ్ళని కసురుకునే వాడిని

ఉద్రేకం ఉరకలు వేసే వయసులో

.

మెల్లోనెస్ నీ, మెచ్యూరిటీనీ

చల్లారిపోవడంగా

భ్రమపడతారని

కుర్రవాళ్లను వెర్రివాళ్ళంటాను

ప్రపంచ జ్ఞానం పట్టుబడ్డాక
