నేను దూరం నుండి గమనించేను

నువ్వు అలా నడుచుకుంటూ నిష్క్రమించడం…

మెరిసే హిమానీ నదమొకటి

చప్పుడు చెయ్యకుండా సముద్రంలోకి జారుకుంది.

ఎప్పటిదో తాతలనాటి సింధూర వృక్షమొకటి,

నామమాత్ర పత్రావశిష్టమై, నదిలోకి వాలిపోయింది.

కోడిపిల్లలకు గింజలు వెదజల్లుతున్న ముదుసలి ఒకతె

తృటికాలం తలెత్తి చూసింది.

మన పాలపుంతకావల,

ముప్ఫైఐదుమంది సూర్యులపెట్టు

నక్షత్రమొకటి విస్ఫోటనచెంది, 

తోడులేని నాహృదయ ద్వారసీమల నిలిచిన

ఖగోళశాస్త్రజ్ఞుడి నేత్రపటలమ్మీద

ఒక పచ్చని చుక్క పొడిచి

అదృశ్యమయిపోయింది.

After Years …

.

Today, from a distance, I saw you
walking away, and without a sound
the glittering face of a glacier
slid into the sea. An ancient oak
fell in the Cumberlands, holding only
a handful of leaves, and an old woman
scattering corn to her chickens looked up
for an instant. At the other side
of the galaxy, a star thirty-five times
the size of our own sun exploded
and vanished, leaving a small green spot
on the astronomer’s retina
as he stood on the great open dome
of my heart with no one to tell.
