Like a childhood friend

Seen after long years of separation…

A drizzle

Raining delicately

Like a shower of jasmine petals

Embraced me with all its hands

.

Unable to realize a wee-bit

How good a friend he was

People ran for cover towards dry shelters

To protect their heads from getting wet

.

Just me and the rain!

Nobody else was there on the roads.

Since it was an uninterrupted togetherness

We roamed the whole town

Resting hands on each other’s shoulders

.

In the nets of the drizzle, we filtered

The fish of our childhood stories

Catching and leaving them alternatingly

And were bone-tired loitering

Steeped in the rain of friendship

.

Coming on a seasonal tour

And spending this whole day with me

Rain bade me good-bye.

Though the clouds that brought him here had vanished,

Like the brilliant smile he left behind

A Rainbow stuck to the sky

Like the soaked shirt sticking to my skin.

వాన

.

ఎన్నాళ్ళకో కనబడ్డ

చిన్నప్పటి మిత్రుడిలా

అన్ని చేతులతో చుట్టేసింది

సన్నజాజి పూరేకుల్లా

సున్నితంగా కురిసే వాన జల్లు.

.

ఎంత మంచి మిత్రుడో

సుంతైనా గ్రహించని  మనుషులు

పొడి గడపలమీదకి చేరుకున్నారు

తడవకుండా తలదాచుకున్నారు

.

వానా నేనూ!

ఇంకెవ్వరూలేరు రోడ్డు మీద.

ఎదురులేని ఏకాంతం కనక

బుజాలమీద చేతులు వేసుకుని

ఎప్పటికబుర్లో చెప్పుకుంటూ

ఊరంతా తిరిగేశాం

.

చినుకుల వలల్లో చిన్నప్పటి కథల్ని

చేపల్లా వడపోస్తూ వదిలేస్తూ

స్నేహం జడిలో తడుస్తూ నడుస్తూ

తిరిగి తిరిగి అలసిపోయాం

.

సీజనల్ టూర్ లో ఈ ఊరొచ్చి

ఈ రోజంతా నాతో గడిపి

వీడ్కోలుచెప్పి వెళ్ళిపోయింది వాన.

వానని తెచ్చిన మబ్బులు మాయమైనా

వాన వదిలి వెళ్ళిన చిరునవ్వులా

హరివిల్లు ఆకాశాన్ని అంటుకునే ఉంది

నా గుండెకి అతుక్కున్న తడిచొక్కాలా.
