దేవుని సన్నిధినుంచిన

తెల్లని కొవ్వొత్తిలాటిది

ఒక వయసుపైబడ్డ

ముఖపు అందం.

చలికాలపు సూర్యుడి

వేడిమిలేని వెలుగులాంటిది

జీవనయాత్ర ముగింపులోకి

వచ్చిన స్త్రీ జీవితం

సంతు దూరమైనా

ఆమె ఆలోచనలు మాత్రం

పాడుబడ్డ నూతిలోని

నీళ్ళలా నిలకడగా ఉన్నాయి.

As a white candle

  In a holy place,

So is the beauty

  Of an agèd face.

As the spent radiance

  Of the winter sun,

So is a woman

  With her travail done.

Her brood gone from her,

  And her thoughts as still

As the waters

  Under a ruined mill.
