తమ దేశప్రజల ఆశీస్సులు పొందిన

యోధులు ఎలా శాశ్వత విశ్రాంతి తీసుకుంటారు?

వారి అపురూపమైన సమాధులని చల్లని మంచు వేళ్ళతో

అలంకరించడానికి  హేమంతం పునరాగమించినపుడు 

ఊహలు నడయాడిన ఏ మట్టికన్నా భిన్నంగా

గొప్ప విలువైన మిత్తికతో అలంకరిస్తుంది.

వారి తుది ఘంటికలని దివ్య హస్తాలు మోగిస్తాయి

విషాదగీతికలని అగోచర ఆకారాలు ఆలపిస్తాయి;

వాళ్ళ శరీరాలను అక్కునజేర్చుకున్న నేల ననుగ్రహించడానికి

యశస్సు, ఒక అలసిన బాటసారిలా విచ్చేస్తుంది.

అక్కడ, శోకిస్తున్న మునిలా నివసించడానికి

స్వాతంత్ర్యం  కాసేపు సేదదీరుతుంది.

.

How sleep the brave, who sink to rest   

By all their country’s wishes blest! 

When Spring, with dewy fingers cold,    

Returns to deck their hallow’d mould,    

She there shall dress a sweeter sod          

Than Fancy’s feet have ever trod.  

By fairy hands their knell is rung; 

By forms unseen their dirge is sung;       

There Honour comes, a pilgrim grey,      

To bless the turf that wraps their clay;    

And Freedom shall awhile repair   

To dwell, a weeping hermit, there!
