Rest in the lap of the river
Reminiscing silently
The buzz of the last evening!

A veteran fisher swirls his snare
Into the body of the river
Erasing the carpet of mist
The river had pulled over it.

The village on the opposite bank
Continues to roll in sleep
Shrivelling further into the bed sheet.
Clutching at the river and the heavens
The Sun would slowly be creeping up
More noisier than an infant.

Abandoning the seclusion of thicket
Swallows chirp to their heart’s content.

Sh…h…h…h..! Don’t draw near for a while;
Let the sparrows, the river, the welkin and the sun
Play until they get weary and tired out
And drenched in delight.

ఎంచక్కా నది వొడిలో
నిద్ర తీస్తుంటాయి పడవలన్నీ,
నిన్నటి సాయంకాలపు సందడినంతా
మౌనంగా తలపోసుకుంటూ.

నది పరచుకున్న మంచు దుప్పటిని
మెల్లిగా చెరిపేస్తూ
నీటి వొంట్లోకి ఎర విసుర్తూ వుంటాడు,
వో ముసలి జాలరి.

ఆవలి వొడ్డున వూరు
యింకా ముసుగు తన్నే వుంటుంది,
ఇంకాస్త నిద్రలోకి ముడుచుకుపోతూ.
నదినీ, ఆకాశాన్నీ పొదివి పట్టుకొని
నెమ్మదిగా పైకి పాకుతుంటాడు సూర్యుడు
పిల్లాడి కన్నా అల్లరిగా.
