శిలువ తరఫున పోరాడి అలసిన యోధుడా, విశ్రమించు,

తుదకు అన్నిటినీ అక్కునచేర్చుకునే నిద్ర, నిద్రపో;

నువ్వు నాట్లువేసిన రోజు సుదీర్ఘమయినది, నిద్రించి ప్రతిఫలం అందుకో,

నువ్వు చాలా కాలం ఉపవశించేవు, నీ ఆత్మతృప్తిగా విందు భోజనం చెయ్యి.

అవును, ప్రేమ నిండుగా అనుభవించడం నీవంతు,

ఎందుకంటె, నువు కనపరిచినప్రేమ, పైపైది కాదు, లోతైనది,

నీ ప్రేమ నిండుపున్నమనాటి పోటువంటిది, కొంచెపునరుల

పిల్లకాలవలలు నీ వరద ముందు దిగదిడుపే.

నీకిపుడు రాత్రి అయింది, భగవంతునిలో ఇపుడు విశ్రమించు. 

ఎప్పుడో ఒకప్పుడు ప్రతిమనిషికీ రావలసిందే;

కొందరికి ఇదే మొదలూ తుదీ, చాలమందికి ఎన్నో మృత్యువులలో ఇదొకటి

నీ అమరత్వపు ప్రణాళికలన్నీ ఖరారయినట్టే

నీ ఉత్తమము ఉత్తమోత్తమంగా పనిచేస్తే, అధమం అందులో అధమం;

కనుక భగవంతుడా, నీ ఉత్తమం ఉత్తమోత్తమంగా అతనికి పనిచెయ్యనీ.
