When you wash the dirt,

Naturally, a little spills over to stain you.

People who say ‘phew’ and walk away

May say you are dirty.

When you kindle a fire

Few sparks flare up

To singe you.

People who do not walk their talk

May blame … you are warming by the fire

When you stand up for the truth

You can’t escape

the glaring looks of suspicion;

Inured as they are to lies

People, for sure, take you for an accomplice.

You know

you swim against the current

stand challenging the whirlwinds

and unflinchingly confront selfishness;

 

You know

It is more important to fight than to win.

And so do I know

It is more unfair giving  up a fight than surrendering.

 

After all, this is not a highway

to expect people to accompany

but a razor’s edge;

This is not mutual admiration society to lend voice

but a thunderous contemptuous cry.

Pal! This is not the path we chose abruptly now

Why should we then worry?

We know that every step we lay

Is a step forward;

Perhaps only  two  of us know.

 

We are prepared for this lonesome ruffled journey

But when we reach the shore, believe me

We drop the anchor…  right on his heart!

మనిద్దరికి తెలుసు

 

.

 

నువ్వు
మురికిని కడిగెటప్పుడు ఒక మరక
నీకూ అంటుతుంది
ముక్కు మూసుకొని పోయేవాళ్ళు
నీకు స్వచ్చత లేదనే అంటారు

 

నువ్వు
నిప్పుని రగిలించేటప్పుడు రెండు చురకలు
నీకూ తగులుతాయి
చేతులు దులుపుకొని చల్లగా జారుకునే వాళ్ళు
నువ్వు చలికాచుకుంటున్నావనే అంటారు

నువ్వు
నిజాన్ని రక్షించేటప్పుడు నాలుగు నిందలు
నీపయినా పడతాయి
అసత్యానికే అలవాటుపడ్డ వాళ్ళు
నిన్నే నిఖార్సుగా అనుమానిస్తారు

 ***

అలలకు ఎదురీది వెలుతున్నావు
సుడిగాలికి ఎదురేగి నిలబడుతున్నావు
స్వార్ధానికి ఎదురొడ్డి నడుస్తున్నావు

నీకు తెలుసు …
గెలవడం కన్నా పొరాటం అతిముఖ్యమని
నాకూ తెలుసు …
ఓడిపోవడం కన్నా వీడిపోవటం అధర్మమని

నలుగురు తోడు రావడానికి ఇది రాజమార్గం కాదు
కత్తి అంచు

అందరూ గొంతు కలపడానికి ఇది పరస్పరభజన కాదు
ధిక్కార నినాదం.

ఈ మార్గం ఇప్పుడు ఎన్నుకున్నది కాదు
మరి కొత్తగా మనకు దిగులెందుకు మిత్రమా?

మనం వేసె ప్రతి అడుగు ముందుకేనని మనకు తెలుసు
బహుశా మనకిద్దరికే తెలుసు.

ఒంటరి ప్రయాణాలకు, ఒడిదుడికులకు సిద్ధపడే బయలుదేరాం.
తీరం చేరితే మాత్రం లంగరు వాడి గుండెలొ దింపాలి.
