ఓహో, జ్ఞానుల్ని చర్చించుకోనీ! రా, ఈ ముసలి ఖయ్యాం

తోడుగా నడు; ఒకటి మాత్రం నిజం- పరిగెడుతుంది జీవితం

మిగతావన్నీ అబద్ధమైనా ఈ ఒక్కటి మాత్రం నిజం:

ఒకసారి విరిసిన కుసుమం, రాలిపోవడం తథ్యం..

 

వయసులో ఉన్నప్పుడు తరచు సేవించేవాడిని

పండితులనీ, యోగులనీ ; ఇదీ, అదీ, ప్రతి విషయాన్నీ

చాలా కూలంకషంగా తర్కించేవాళ్ళు; ఎన్నిసార్లు వెళ్ళినగానీ 

నాకేం లాభించలేదు. వెళ్ళినద్వారంలోంచే తిరిగొచ్చేవాడిని

 

వాళ్లలో జ్ఞాన బీజాలని అక్షరాలా నాటేను;

కష్టపడి చేజేతులా పెరగడానికి ప్రోదిచేశాను

కోసుకునేవేళకి మిగిలింది పిడికెడు చేను:

“నేను నీటితో వచ్చేను… గాలితో పోతాను.”

The Flower that once has blown forever dies.

 

Myself when young did eagerly frequent

Doctor and Saint, and heard great Argument

About it and about that; but evermore

Came out by the same Door as in I went.

 

With them the Seed of Wisdom did I sow,

And with my own hand labour’d it to grow:

And this was all the Harvest that I reap’d —

‘I came like Water and like Wind I go.’
