అగోచరం నుండి వచ్చేను నేను,
భౌతిక ప్రపంచపు మహారణ్యంలో తిష్టవేసుకుని
ధాతు, వృక్ష రూపాలను అధిగమించి
నా మానసిక వికాసం సహాయంతో
జంతుప్రపంచంలోకి అడుగుపెట్టేను;

ఇక్కడిదాక వచ్చేను గనుక
దాన్ని కూడా అధిగమించి వెళుతున్నాను.
నిర్మలినమైన మానవహృదయమనే
ముత్యపుచిప్పలో నా ఆత్మ చినుకును సాకి
ప్రార్థనామందిరాలచుట్టూ
సాధు సాంగత్యంతో తిరిగేను.

అది అనుభవించేను గనుక, ఆ పరిథికూడ దాటి
“అతన్ని” చేరుకునే మార్గం లో ప్రయాణించి
అతని ద్వారం దగ్గర దాసుడనై నిలబడ్డాను.
అప్పుడు నాలోని ద్వైధీ భావన తొలగిపోయి
అతనిలో లీనమై, “అహం బ్రహ్మాస్మి” అయిపోయాను.

I Came

From the un-manifest I came,
And pitched my tent, in the Forest of Material existence.
I passed through mineral and vegetable kingdoms,
Then my mental equipment carried me into the animal kingdom;
Having reached there I crossed beyond it;
Then in the crystal clear shell of human heart
I nursed the drop of self in a Pearl,
And in association with good men
Wandered round the Prayer House,
And having experienced that, crossed beyond it;
Then I took the road that leads to Him,
And became a slave at His gate;
Then the duality disappeared
And I became absorbed in Him.

Khwaja Abdullah Ansari

(May 4, 1006 – 1088) – Persian Sufi poet

Sheikh Khwaja Abdullah Ansari, Sheikh Ansari Jabir ibn ‘Abdullah al-Ansari, also known as Ansari of Herat, was born in Herat, in western Afghanistan.

Some of Sheikh Ansari’s works include Kashf al-Asrar “Unveiling of the Secrets” (Commentary of the Qur’an), Tabaquat al-Sufiyya (The Generations of the Sufis), “Munajat” (Intimate Invocations) which is incorporated into the Kashf al-Asrar and in the Tabaqat.

Khwaja Abdullah Ansari died in Herat the year 1088, and his burial place in Herat is still a place of pilgrimage for thousands of Sufis and the faithful every year.
