అనంతసాగర కెరటాలం,

ఎంతగాలినైనా మా ఒడిఊయల 

డోలలూపి విశ్రాంతి గూర్చెదము.

తడిగా, తడి తడిగా ఉన్నా ఉప్పగ ఉన్నా

నిప్పులాగ ఎగరగలం నింగికి,

ఉన్నమాట చెప్పాలంటే,

మేం మంటలమే…  తడి మంటలమే

కీలలాగ పైకెగసి,

నివురులాగ లో గునిసి,

అడ్డమొస్తే అన్నిటినీ తుడిచి,

లేనిచోట గుట్టలుగా పోసే,

ఉప్పునీరుగా కనిపించే ప్రాణుల, 

ఉమ్మనీటి తొలి కోశాలము మేము

స్వీడిష్ కవీ, నాటక కర్తా, నవలాకారుడూ.

22 జనవరి 1849 – 14 మే 1912.

ఆధునిక స్వీడిష్ సాహిత్యానికి పితామహుడుగా పిలవబడే ఆగస్ట్ స్ట్రిన్ బర్గ్, మొదటినుండీ నాటక రంగం లో ప్రయోగాలు చేస్తూనే ఉన్నాడు.  ముఖ్యంగా  నాటక రంగంలో సహజత్వం కావాలన్న ఎమిలీజోలా పిలుపుకిస్పందిస్తూ, అతనుకథావస్తువులోనూ,పాత్రలలోనూ,సంభాషణలలోనూ, రంగాలంకరణలోనూ, వాచికం, ఆహార్యాలలోనూ, అతను ఎన్నో మార్పులు తీసుకు రావడమేగాక, అతను దృశ్యమాధ్యమంలో చేసిన ప్రయోగాలు సినిమాకళ అభివృధ్ధిచెందేదాకా చూపడానికి అశక్యంగా ఉండేవి. అతని నవల  The Red Room  ఇప్పటికీ ఆధునిక స్వీడిష్ నవలగా గుర్తింపబదుతోంది. అతని నాటకం Miss Julie అతనికి అజరామరమైన కీర్తి సంపాదించి పెట్టింది. 40 ఏళ్ళ సాహిత్య ప్రస్థానం లొ ఆతను మొత్తం 60 దాకా నాటకాలూ, 30 దాకా ఇతర సాహిత్య ప్రక్రియలలో కృతులు రచించాడు.

August Strindberg,

Swedish Playwright, Novelist, Poet, Essayist and Painter

22 January 1849 – 14 May 1912

Renowned as the father of modern Swedish literature, August  Strindberg was a playwright of extraordinary genius who experimented several techniques of Naturalistic Tragedy (naturalism is a movement in European drama and theatre which essentially done away with intervention of the Supernatural or exotic elements in the plot, done away with the aristocratic and nobles as characters, employed dialogues, expressions from the daily life of the middle class and the working class, focused on contemporary subjects and events as also the locales, and effectively used the Darwinian motifs to prove the influence of environment on the thoughts and actions of the people), Monodrama or Single Character play, and some of his experiments in visual compositions could actually be staged only with the development of cinema. His literary career spanned some 40 years during which time he produced a wide corpus of plays, novels, historical plays. His Miss Julie is recognised as one of his best dramas and The Red Room is considered as the first modern Swedish novel.
