తలకట్టున గులాబుల దండ ధరించండి

మధువూ, గులాబుల్లా మనం నవ్వుతూ

కాసేపు హాయిగా ఆనందంగా గడుపుదాం.

గులాబుల కిరీటాన్ని ధరించిన మనం

“జహీజ్”(1) రాజమకుటాన్నైనా తలదన్నుదాం

ఈ రోజు మనది; మనం దేనికి భయపడాలి?

ఈ రోజు మనది; అది మనచేతిలోనే ఉంది.

దాన్ని సాదరంగా చూద్దాం. కనీసం

మనతోనే ఉండిపోవాలని కోరుకునేలా చేద్దాం.

పనులన్నీ కట్టిపెట్టండి, దుఃఖాన్ని తరిమేయండి

రే పన్నది సుఖపడడం తెలిసినవాళ్లకే.

ఎపిక్యూరియన్లు భోగలాలసులని చాలా అపోహ. నిజానికి వాళ్ళు సుఖజీవనం బోధించారు గాని, ఇంద్రియ లాలసకి వ్యతిరేకులు. అతి సాధారణమైన, నిర్మలిన జీవితం, పరిమితమైన కోరికలు, పెద్ద పెద్ద ఆశలూ ఆశయాలు లేకపోవడమే వాళ్ళు బోధించింది. ఈ జీవితం నశ్వరమనీ, దీనికి భగవంతుడు కారణం కాదనీ, మరణం తర్వాత జీవితం లేదనీ, జననానికి ముందున్న అనంత శూన్యంలోకే మరణం తర్వాత చేరుకుంటాము కనుక భయపడవలసినది ఏమీ లేదనీ, బాధలకి భయపడవద్దనీ, హాయిగా జీవించమనీ చెప్పారు.

Epicureanism is a form of hedonism insofar as it declares pleasure to be its sole intrinsic goal, the concept that the absence of pain and fear constitutes the greatest pleasure, and its advocacy of a simple life, make it very different from “hedonism” as colloquially understood.
