ఆ ఎక్స్ రే వివిధ పరిమాణాల్లో అనేక నక్షత్రాలను చూపిస్తోంది
కుడిపక్క తులారాశి, ఎడమప్రక్క కర్కాటకం(కేన్సర్)
మెదడు పూర్ణ మండలాన్ని చూపిస్తున్న అందులో, కొన్ని బిందువులు
విచక్షణనీ, కోరికనీ… పూర్తిగా హరించాయి.
డాక్టర్లకి ఆమె ఉల్లాసంగా ఉండడం ఎంతో నచ్చింది
ఆమె స్థితిలో ఆశను మించి మరేమీ మిగలలేదు.
ఆమె చాలా ప్రశాంతంగా ఎదురుచూసింది. ముందుగా స్పర్శ కోల్పోయింది.
తర్వాత చూపు; ఆవేశం మందగించింది. ఊపిరితిత్తులూ, గుండె వంతు చివర.
కానీ, ఆ క్రమాన్ని ప్రస్తావిస్తూ రుచి తర్వాతది అని చెప్పేరు.
అప్పుడామె అడిగింది, మీరు “నా చివరి దుస్తులు ఎంచగలరా?” అని
ఆమె తెలివితక్కువగా మాటాడటం లేదు. ఆమె దృష్టిలో
కేన్సరు జీవితం పట్ల ఉండే దృక్పథాన్ని ఎలా పునరభినయించిందంటే
మనిషి కోరికలు రాను రాను బిందుప్రమాణానికి సన్నగిలిపోతాయి
ఆ బిందువుకి అస్తిత్వం ఉంటుంది, కానీ పరిమాణం ఉండదు.

The Optimist
The film showed stars of varying magnitude:
On the right, Libra, and on the left, Cancer,
Mapping the brain’s horizons, vanishing points
Respectively of reason and desire.
The doctors liked her cheerful attitude,
Hope being all she had in her position.
She waited, calm. Touch burned out first, then vision.
Emotion slipped. Last would be lungs and heart.
But, noting trends, they told her Taste was next.
She asked then, could they pick out her last dress?
She wasn’t making light. It seemed to her
That cancer just rehearsed life’s attitude
That one’s desires must taper to a point,
Which has position, but no magnitude.
