అటు చూడండి! అతను నిష్క్రమించాడు; తారాకిరీటంతో,
ఏ కన్నీరూ లేకుండా, తలలో వసివాడని కీర్తి కుసుమాలతో.
మృత్యువు ముద్దాడింది; ఈ రాత్రి ప్రకృతిఎంతో అందంగా ఉంది
కవులునిద్రించే, ప్రశాంతత రాజ్యమేలే పడమటి ద్వీపానికి
అతను సరికొత్త అతిథి.
నవయవ్వనుడైన కీట్స్ అతనిచెంతనే ఉన్నాడు. వెండి వెన్నెలబోలిన
నీటిబుగ్గలు ఎగసిపడుతున్నాయి; భూమిమీది కవులకు ఒక శోకగీతం
పాపం! వాళ్ళ నేత్రాలిపుడు చీకటితో మూయబడ్డాయి,
వాళ్ళ పుట్టువు ఎటుచూసినా, బాధలనూ, క్లేశాన్నీ
అగాధమైన నిస్పృహనీ భవిష్యవాణిగా సూచిస్తోంది.

ఓ గులాబులారా! ఆకాశానికి విజయకేతనంలా విరిసి ఎగరండి
కాలాన్ని ధిక్కరించి నిలబడే అతని త్యాగానికి గుర్తుగా
మీ నవ్వుల గుబాళింపులో చీకటిని చెదరగొట్టండి;
భూమిపై సమిష్ఠిగా చేసిన తప్పులని
సరిదిద్ది అద్భుతమైన సంపదగా రాశులుపోయడానికి
విత్తులైన అతని వీర గీతాలు పువ్వులుగా విరబూస్తాయి.
శౌర్యంతో జతకట్టిన అతని గీతం, పవిత్రజ్వాలను రగిలించే
స్వాతంత్య్ర కాంక్షను పెనవేసుకుంది,
దివిలోని నక్షత్రాల్లా అతని జ్ఞాపకానికి గుడికట్టి
అతని పేరుని ప్రస్తుతిస్తోంది.

The Poet of Foreign Legion

 .

Lo! he is gone; star-crowned and clean of tears,
With Fame’s immortal blossoms on his hair.
He met Death’s kiss; tonight the fields are fair
In peace-lit Avalon where poets rest,
And he is latest guest.
Young Keats is with him — silver fountains play
A tender threnody for men of earth
Whose eyes are sealed with darkness, and whose birth
Foreshadows pain and grief and deep despair,
Yea, everywhere.

Scatter ye roses — skyey trophies bring,
And let the night be shattered with your cheers
For him whose sacrifice outlives the years;
The seeds of whose proud songs
Shall work to right Earth’s federated wrongs,
By flowering to a mighty harvesting.
Song wed to Chivalry and twined with Love
Of Liberty that sheds a sacred flame,
Enshrines his mem’ry bright as stars above,
And glorifies his name.
