ఈ రోజు నేను ఏ ఏ పనులు చేశానో
ముమ్మారు గుర్తుచేసుకునేదాకా
నిద్రలోకి నేను మెల్లిగా జారుకోకుండా ఉందును గాక!
ఈ రోజు నేను ఎక్కడెక్కడికి వెళ్ళాను?
నేనెక్కడికెళ్ళినా, నే చూసినా వన్నిటినుండీ,
నే విన్నా వన్నిటినుండీ, నేర్చుకున్న దేమిటి?
నేనింకా తెలుసుకో యోగ్యమైన దేమిటి?
నేను చేయవలసినదేది చేశాను?
నేను ఏది వదిలించుకోవాలసినదేది ప్రయత్నించాను?
నే చెయ్యకుండా విడిచిపెట్టిన కర్తవ్యాలేమిటి?
నేనే కొత్త తెలివితక్కువపనులు చేశాను?
ఆత్మశోధన చేసుకునే ఈ ప్రశ్నలే
సన్మార్గంలో నడవడానికీ, దైవాన్ని చేరడానికీ దారి.

Self-Inquiry
LET not soft slumber close my eyes,
Before I ’ve recollected thrice
The train of action through the day!
Where have my feet chose out their way?
What have I learnt, where’er I ’ve been,
From all I have heard, from all I ’ve seen?
What know I more that ’s worth the knowing?
What have I done that ’s worth the doing?
What have I sought that I should shun?
What duty have I left undone?
Or into what new follies run?
These self-inquiries are the road
That leads to virtue and to God.
