Staking Life… Mohan Rishi, Telugu, Indian
There is nothing more to be dreadful about death,
Nor, are there any illusions of it visiting a particular day.
The light and night try to neutralize one another
Pleasures and pains are not exempted.
Today walks over us to morrow
The survivors continue their death-ward journey.
Death lurking in every step, and
Life abiding under shadow of death
Are the facts of the times.
One can’t witness any glimmer of hope
In people living under Damocles’ sword.
Is coming home a bane or a blessing?
It’s moot on a frightful disquieting stygian night.
In a wont, heartless, calcining world
Where people are insulated from one another
Dumbstruck and half-asleep in their own time-zones,
Their cells, busy engagements, and their heart-rending grieves,
There is more now to fear … how to live?
