సౌందర్యం సత్యం యొక్క వన్నెగాని, మెరుగు గాని కాదు

అది మనిషి ఆనందం కోసం సృష్టించబడిందీ కాదు.

ఆ మాటకొస్తే, స్వర్గంలోని కిటికీలగుండా సుదూరంగా చూస్తే

నరకం కూడా చాలా సుందరంగా కనిపిస్తుంది.

1917 ఆగష్టు సంచికలో ఈ కవిత పడే నాటికి  హిచ్ కాక్ కి 18 నిండలేదు.

1919 తర్వాతే అతనిలోని సాహిత్య సృజన The Henley Telegraph, లోని రచనలద్వారా బయటకి వచ్చింది.

కాని అదికూడా కథలద్వారానే.

అయితే, ఈ కవి ఎవరో  సాధికారికమైన సమాచారం నాకు దొరక లేదు.

అతను అమెరికను అన్నది కూడా నా ఊహ మాత్రమే. )

Beauty is not the hue and glow of right, 

Nor for man’s pleasure given.     

Even Hell itself is beautiful at night             

From the far windows of Heaven.

(Note: It is very unlikely that the person is same as the noted suspense thriller movie producer and Director Alfred Hitchcock.  Because, at the time of publication of this poem he did not turn 18. Hitchcock’s writing skills were first known to the world  through his writings to The Henley Telegraph… but even those were only short stories.

However, I don’t have authentic information about this poet.  That he is American is only my guess and not based on any authority.)
