Yesterday’s Dream… Nishigandha, Telugu, Indian Poetess
“How come you smell so sweet?”
Your compliment at nightfall
while your hand girdles my waist;
Lips blossom
unable to conceal the excitement .
A similar night… even more fragrant
Monumental indifference without a turn of head
works up a smooth silent wound…
Tears spill over
from an already heavy heart
Bliss to the limits of the sky once
a grief of oceanic proportions now
on both occasions …you are the comrade
Do the embarrassed moments
Slipping silently away have any idea
Which of them is more unbearable?
