పేరులో ఏముంది?… షేక్స్పియర్

నీ పేరొకప్పుడు సమ్మోహనమంత్రం, ఆలోచనలన్నీ దాని చుట్టూతిరిగేవి.

తపించే కలలనుండీ, కోరికలనుండీ ఆ ధ్వని మేల్కొలిపేది.

కొత్తవాళ్ళెవరయినా నీ పేరు ఊరికే పొగడడానికో,  నిందించడానికో ఉఛ్ఛరించినపుడల్లా, 

నాకు శరీరం గగుర్పొడిచి, అంతరాంతరాలలో చెప్పనలవికాని ఆనందానుభూతి ఎగసిపడేది.

ఎన్ని సంవత్సరాలు… ఎన్ని సంవత్సరాలు దొర్లిపోయాయి; నువ్వూ మనిషి మారిపోయేవు;

ఒకప్పుడు సంతోషంగా కలుసుకునే మనం, ఇప్పుడు అపరిచితుల్లా కలుసుకోవాలి;

మన పాత స్నేహితులు నన్ను కలుస్తుంటారప్పుడప్పుడు, కానీ, ఇపుడు ఎవరూ నీ ఊసు ఎత్తరు;

అడిగికూడా ప్రయోజనం లేదిప్పుడు … అయినా నువ్వు నాకేమవుతావని?

కానీ నీ పేరు, నాకు పవిత్రమైన నీ పేరు, నా ఏకాంతహృదయంనిండా నిండి ఉంది…

సుదూరగిరినిచయంలో అంతరించిన  ప్రతిధ్వనిలా…

ఒకప్పుడు అది నాలో నినదించిన ఆనందస్వనాలు అంతరించినా…  శాశ్వతంగా సమసిపోయినా,

ఇప్పటికీ, మంద్రంగా, విషాదం పలికిస్తూ, లీలగా కదలాడుతూనే ఉంటుంది.

కేరొలీన్ నార్టన్ (22 March 1808 – 15 June 1877)

బ్రిటిషు కవయిత్రి, పేరొందిన అందగత్తె, తాడిత పీడిత జనోధ్ధరణకు ఆవిశ్రాంతంగా కృషిచేసిన సాహస స్త్రీ.

ఈమెను కోలెరిడ్జ్ కుమార్తె “స్త్రీమూర్తిలో ఉన్న బైరను” గా అభివర్ణించింది.

Thy name was once the magic spell, by which my thoughts were bound,

And burning dreams of light and love  were awakened by that sound

My heart beat quick  when stranger tongues, with idle praise or blame,

Awoke its deepest thrill of life, to tremble at that name.

Long years—long tears have passed away, and altered is thy brow;

And we met so gladly once, must meet as strangers now;

Friends of yore come round me still, but talk no more of thee;

‘Tis idle ev’n to wish it now —for what art thou to me?

Yet still thy name, thy blessed  name, my lonely bosom fills,

Like an echo that hath lost itself among the distant hills,

Which still, with melancholy note, keeps faintly lingering on,

When the jocund sound that once woke it once is gone—for ever gone.

Caroline Elizabeth Sarah Norton (22 March 1808 – 15 June 1877)

British Poet, Renowned beauty, Popular writer and a tireless crusader for the rights of the oppressed. Hartley Coleridge ( The H.C. fame of Wordsworth’s Poem) defined her as  “The Byron of the Poetesses” in the Quarterly Review, September 1840.
