నే నొక గొర్రెల కాపరిని.

ఆలోచనలే నా మందలు,

నా ఆలోచనలన్నీ ఇంద్రియానుభూతులే.

నేను కళ్ళతో, చెవులతో,

చేతులతో, కాళ్ళతో,

నాసికతో, నాలుకతో ఆలోచిస్తాను.

.

ఒక పువ్వు గురించి ఆలోచించడమంటే

దాన్ని చూసి ఆహ్రాణించడమే

ఒక పండుని ఆశ్వాదించడమంటే, దాని అర్థాన్ని గ్రహించడమే

.

కనుకనే బాగా వేడిగా ఉన్న రోజున

దాన్ని అనుభవించలేక బాధగా ఉన్నప్పుడు

గడ్డిమీద నిలువుగా బార్లాజాచుకుని  పడుక్కుని

వేడీకి మండుతున్న నా కళ్ళు మూసుకుని

నా శరీరం విశ్రమిస్తోందన్న వాస్తవాన్ని

అనుభూతి చెందుతాను.

ఆ సత్యాన్ని గ్రహించిన నే నిపుడు ఆనందంగా ఉంటాను.

ఫెర్నాండో పెసో

పెర్నాండో పెసో (June 13, 1888 – November 30, 1935) చాలా చిత్రమైన పోర్చుగీసు కవి,  రచయిత, అనువాదకుడు, సాహిత్య విమర్శకుడు. కనీసం 72 మారుపేర్లతో,  ( Alberto Caeiro, Ricardo Reis, Álvaro de Campos, Bernardo Soares  అన్నవి చాలా ప్రముఖమైనవి) మారుపేర్లతో రాయడమే కాకుండా, అతని ప్రత్యేకత, ప్రతి మారు పేరుకీ ఒక విలక్షణమైన వ్యక్తిత్వం, కవితా రీతి, సాహిత్య ప్రక్రియ కూడా కలిగి ఉండడం. IX  నంబరు గల ఈ కవిత అతని ప్రముఖ కవితా సంకలనం The Keeper of Flocks (1911-12)  నుండి గ్రహించబడింది.)

I am a keeper of sensations,

The herd is my thoughts

And my thoughts are all sensations.

I think with the eyes and ears

And with hands and feet

And with the nose and mouth.

.

To think a flower is to see it and smell it

And eat a fruit is to know its meaning.

.

That’s why when on a hot day
I feel sad from liking it so much,
And I throw myself lengthwise on the grass
And shut my hot eyes,
And feeling my whole body lying on reality,
I know the truth and I’m happy.
